Critical thinking is a skill that is learned based upon the knowledge and processes appropriate for the situation, for example, nursing versus parenting, engineering, retail, personal situations, etc. Nurses use the scientific method to plan care. This method is referred to as the Nursing Process. It lays out a sequential progression of steps for decision making and planning that are based on data collected and knowledge attained through the study of nursing. As a result of thisprocess, the nurse constructs a care plan outlining specific concerns and interventions for each patient. In addition to developing a care plan, nurses must have a keen understanding of prioritization of care. A nurse’s decisions are based on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in nursing school, through on-the-job training, and through experience attained as a nurse grows from novice to expert over time.Assignment: Answer the questions in Part One and complete the exercise in Part Two.Part One (40 points): Read and review the referenced chapter, watch the nursing process videos, answer each question, providing a substantive answer where appropriate.
