The Colosseum The Colosseum is a one of the most amazing spectacles in the world. Ever since I saw the movie Gladiator by Ridley Scott I have wanted to go to the Colosseum and see this incredible piece of Roman architecture for myself. When I eventually travel to Rome and witness history for myself I will make sure to stand in the middle and take a three hundred and sixty degree view of the whole stadium and take a moment to realize the history that has happened their. Some of the most amazing battles and events have happened in that amphitheater that it will be an honor to go and visit it. It is unknown to many people that the original name of the Colosseum was actually The Flavian Amphitheater. It was originally called this because it was constructed by emperors of the Flavian dynasty. Construction of the Colosseum began in 72 A.D. under the rule of Emperor Vespasian and was not completed until 80 A.D. when Emperor Titus ruled the thrown. It is amazing that a building this old is still standing
