The created component appears in the PRIMARY list. 1 Open the Inventory Explorer (see "How to Access the Inventory Explorer" on page 193). 2 Right-click in the tree view and select Create Component. 3 The ORG Selection box appears in a multi-organization environment. Select the organization and click OK. 4 In the Component [NEW] dialog box Part sub tab, click Reference Editor . 5 In the New Part Number Selection dialog box, enter the part number if known or click View Part List. Either way, the Part No Assignment box appears to enable you to select the appropriate part number. 6 In the Part No Assignment box, select the part number and click Apply or OK. The Component [NEW] dialog box reappears with the selected part number now in the Part Number field. 7 Click the Item sub tab and enter the serial number in the Serial No field. Click Apply. 8 Respond to the Create Inventory prompts accordingly and click OK. The created component appears in the PRIMARY portion of the Inventory Explorer. Component This dialog box enables you to add or update the attributes relative to the component’s serial number, contract number, installation date, status, and overhaul indicator. For procedures, see Create a Component (on page 209). New Part Number Selection This dialog box enables you to select a part number when creating a component. For procedures, see Create a Component (on page 209). 210 User Guide Optimized NALCOMIS OMA Create an Inventory Item The Create Inventory option on the Inventory Explorer enables you to create an aircraft, assembly, or a component that has its baseline established by the BLM but not yet in the database. This situation happens when an aircraft or equipment comes from an organization that does not use the Optimized NALCOMIS OMA system. If the inventory item already exists in the database, you have to identify the item's serial number and if available, the contract number. To create an inventory item, see the applicable topic listed under "In This Section." Create an aircraft or assembly 1 Open the Inventory Explorer (see "How to Access the Inventory Explorer" on page 193). 2 Right-click on the white area on the left side of the window and select Create Inventory or go to the Edit menu and select Create Inventory, or click the Create Inventory button . The Inventory [NEW] dialog box appears with a blank Part Number box. Note: The Org Selection List box appears when in a multiorganization environment. This box contains the different organizations belonging to the same server. Select an Org and then click OK. 3 Click Reference Editor to the right of the Part No box. The New Part Number Selection dialog box appears with a blank part number. 4 In the New Part Number Selection dialog box, click View Part Number.
