Subclass further defines the characteristics of the component and can be changed easily. Both inventory class and subclass are required fields. 6 Check the Mandatory box, if necessary. The mandatory item identifies the overall minimum item list for the parent assembly. 7 Click Apply or OK. Once the Detail information has been entered, a part number can be assigned from the Parts Catalog, or a new part number can be created. Assign Part Number 1 On the Part No tab, enter the Part No. The Parts Catalog box appears. 2 Use the search fields at the top of the dialog box to isolate the part number(s) that you want to assign to the WUC/UNS. 3 Once the appropriate information is entered in the search field, click the Search toolbar button to retrieve the part(s). The results of the search is displayed in the lower window. 4 Click the part number(s) you want to associate with the WUC/UNS and click OK. The selected part number(s) appears on the Part No tab for the Create Sub-WUC/UNS, as well as on the Part No. tab in the Assembly Explorer. 296 User Guide Optimized NALCOMIS OMA Configuration Management and Logs & Records Subsystem - Detail Tab Create a Part Number 1 Open the Assembly Explorer (see "How to Access the Assembly Explorer" on page 266). 2 Click Create New Part on the tab. The Create New Part dialog box appears. 3 Fill out the Identity tab with Part Name, Part Number, Inventory Class, and Inventory Subclass, Bitmap and CAGE. Lists are available for selection. 4 Click the Detail tab and add Model and Revision information, as required. The Description tab is a free-form block that enables you to type a brief description of the part. The Applicability tab shows a listing of other assemblies that the component is assigned to. Entries on the Applicability tab appear after the part has been assigned to a WUC/UNS slot. 5 Click OK when completed. The new part appears on the Part No tab for Create Sub-WUC/UNS, as well as on Part No. tab in the Assembly Explorer. Configuration Management and Logs & Records Subsystem - Detail Tab Unassign a Part Number 1 Open the Assembly Explorer (see "How to Access the Assembly Explorer" on page 266). 2 Click the part number to be unassigned. 3 Click Unassign Part Number on the tab. 4 Click Verify to make sure that the part number no longer resides in the list. Chapter 4 Configuration Management and Logs & Records Subsystem 297 Position Tab The Position tab in the Assembly Explorer or WUC/UNS dialog box enables you to identify the position codes and their names which will be associated to the part number created. The number of position is established during the sub-WUC/UNS creation on the Detail tab, Number of Position field when on the WUC/UNS dialog box.
