Part III: Issues Teams Face . Although it is widely considered that Captain America is the leader of the Avengers, the team was created and assembled due to the efforts of Nick Fury, the director of SHIELD. Initially he was unsuccessful due to conflicting personas of the individual team members; at one point in the film he uses the death of agent Phil Coulson (a well-respected character by the entire team) to unite the individuals to fight for a common cause. This method could be considered slightly morbid and unethical but ultimately proved to be successful in the end. . The main external issue that the Avengers face in the film is without question the alien invasion

Captain America took a critical stance at the beginning of the battle as a problem solver and strategist; he analyzed the unique abilities of each of his team members and delegated responsibility so they could perform optimally as a team. He directed Thor to utilize his incredible lightning power to “bottleneck” the wormhole; Hawkeye to maintain a high vantage point to utilize his archery skills; Hulk to “smash”; and Iron Man to use his technology to keep the battle contained within the city limits....
