INTRODUCTION English is a global language in worldwide use. Whatever students decide to do after graduation, it will involve communicating in English with others with a wide range of abilities to use English and levels of confidence and competence in the language. Students are likely to use English in employment, as global citizens and in their on-going professional development. Accordingly, this proposed program is based on the premise that learning another language is becoming aware of another culture. Foreign language competence is a means not only to acquire knowledge about and skills of efficient cross-cultural communication but also a means of presenting our own culture to the world. Using authentic learning materials as “cultural conversational tools”, this proposed program aims to prepare students for life in a globalized world. Specifically, this program will follow Deardoff’s (2011) intercultural model which could be summarized on the following stages: Stage One: Focus on One’s Culture
