Chokan Valikhanov is one of the representative of the Qazaq intelligentsia during the colonization. Thanks to his position in society as being white bone (Chingissid), he could be well educated person. For example, his family’s connections gave him a place in the elite Siberian Cadet Corps Institute in Omsk in 1847. His Russian background and knowledge influenced him and because of that he did not become one of the “mainstream” nomadic Qazaq. Noticing how the science and education can help in life, he wanted his nation to gain education, administration system, trade, and technologies from the Russian Empire. However, he was not a fanatic supporter of either Middle Horde or Qazaq revolutions against Russia. Because he believed that Central Eurasian people would benefit from the Russian influence.
