Parnell 2 Jessica Parnell ENW 11: Composition Dr. Michael White December 5, 2006 It is a controversy that has traveled the entire United States. Each case is  very different from the next, but all with the same choice; abortion. Abortion is not  a new thing, it has been around since the 1850’s and even back when it started  the issue was huge. The ways the baby is aborted is hard to hear, but necessary  for those who are pro-choice. Not all abortions are preformed the same ways,  especially between cultures and ethnicities. Laws are being made for and against  abortion, but still the morals and religious beliefs will always play a big part in  each of those women’s minds when they are making the decision to have an

Parnell 3 abortion or not. Abortion is not just a medical procedure. A lot of mental and  emotional issues come along with an abortion, and thankfully there are clinics  there to provide support and guidance for these women. Abortion, according to Encarta is an operation to end a pregnancy. It also  says an offensive term, and to me that is what in abortion is to women; offensive.  To be pregnant and to keep the human race growing is a privilege, and for  women to use abortion as a form of birth control is very wrong through my eyes.  Some women will try anything to have a child, and it just does not seem fair that  any woman can just walk into an abortion clinic and the next day get pregnant  again.  The first abortion was said to have happened sometime in the 1850’s. The  most modern and more to what we know of an abortion now did not start  happening until the nineteenth century. In the 1960’s many states decided to take  the abortion law that an abortion could only be preformed if the pregnancy  caused medical danger to the mother. In 1966 Mississippi allowed abortions only  for women who had been raped. After 1973 many states allowed abortion as long

Parnell 4 as the baby wouldn’t be able to live on its own if it were born at the time of  abortion instead of aborted.   Throughout history many ancient people also preformed abortions,  however they were very different from those we know of today. Some tribes  would force their people to move every quickly, and this included pregnant  women. This would put so much stress on their bodies and the babies that the  babies would be born very premature. The tribes did not care much about the  baby, because that would slow the tribe down. The babies were either killed or  left to die. Sometimes the mother would die during birth because of complications

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
