Davis Project One 2 Describe the functions, responsibilities, and jurisdictional aspects of the career. Describe the daily functions. Describe the responsibilities. Explain the jurisdictional aspects of the career and how they may vary depending on location or specific incidences. A Crime Victim Advocate’s daily functions are to help victims and witnesses of crime deal with the emotional stress and assist the victim through the criminal court system. The victims advocate will educate the victim and provide access to financial and social services, provide release information about the offender, and even provide counseling services to victims and witnesses of crimes. The victim advocate is responsible for completing their daily functions. The responsibility to provide dignity and being a good listener is also key. Utilizing the daily functions and skills needed is also essential to being a successful advocate. Responsibilities include, helping victims apply for public assistance, providing victims with updates on their case such as changes or release of the offender, notification to victim of offender parole status, providing victims transportation to appointments, advocates even providing formula to mothers in need. The victims advocate can work with a local or state agency as well as individual family services. What is known as the victim - counselor privilege has three different statutes that are, absolute, absolute diluted, or qualified privilege. Each state has their own break down for these privileges but depending on the state victim - counselor

The watchman style of policing gives discretion to this responding officer. The officer may decide to speak to the teens and direct them to go home.
