The Social Dilemma I watched the movie called “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix. The film talks about the rise of social media and its effects on human behavior, mental health, and society overall. The damage it has done to modern humans is unmeasurable. We can talk about the algorithms that promote some ideas and omit others. One of the interviewees in the movie mentions: “People now have a new reality, new facts” (56:51). These facts spread out with enormous speed. But I also think it is connected with the rise of globalization overall. We now have a tool, the Internet, that can spread a fact in a matter of seconds. We do not even need to watch news on TV, we will just simply get a notification that tells us what has happened in the world. As for me personally, this movie raises a lot of questions. In the first half of the film, it is said that we are the product. “If you do not buy a product – you are the product.” However, if wethink about the TV, we can say the same thing.
