A Brief Description The object of the game of golf is to swing a club and hit a ball into a hole with the fewest possible hits. Players measure their scores against the par of the 18-hole course. Most tournaments are either match play or stroke play. In match play, two players play one on one, while in stroke play, players measure their total scores against the entire field. Until recently, golf has always been a sport for the upper class because it requires free time, expensive equipment, and memberships to clubs. Golf has become more of a universal sport for people of all social classes and race.

Origination Golf originated in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland in the mid 1400s. People would play on beaches of the east coast. Rabbit holes were the holes and rabbit runs were the fairways. Players would use sticks as clubs and hit a small rock until leather balls were invented. During its development, golf was restricted by Scotland’s leaders because fewer men were practicing archery, but these orders were ignored my most. Though the Scots lost their next war with England, but they became good golfers.
