From “1880 to 1920” the number of industrial workers went from “2.5 million to over 10 million”. In 1860 the country produced thirteen thousand tons ofsteel then by 1879 American furnaces were producing over 1 million tons per year. Within 10 years the United states was the top steel producer in the world.
