1. I found the explanation of the difference between creating willful ignorance and propaganda interesting. When the Nazis propaganda was mentioned, I immediately thought of the advertisements of the Shaker Heights community (depicting a utopia in the clouds and the ability to live a perfect life); like the Nazis, the Shakers community wasn’t just creating willful ignorance, they genuinely believed the ideas they shared with others. 2. In the podcast, Robert Proctor said that “A big part of focus is inattention… you can’t focus without defocusing at the same time on most things that are around you”. This stuck me as really interesting and also seemed to apply to a couple of the characters from Little Fires Everywhere. First, the concept reminded me of Mia, her main focus was her photography, her art, and because of that she really couldn’t focus on much else. Sure, she had to raise Pearl, but Mia and Pearl went wherever felt best
