The benefits of intelligence-driven prosecution for crime fighters and the general public are new demographic trends of where crimes occur, surveillance cameras placed in areas containing high crime rate and new databases that have been implemented in the cities precincts. The major data base that has been implemented into the cities precincts is called CompStat, it records and tracks all reported crimes, complaints and arrests throughout the city with the time and location that they were recorded. This database analyzes the data and produces weekly reports on a city wide level. This data can be displayed on maps which show crime hot spots, arrest locations and other relevant information to help the precincts keep New York’s streets safe.
