Created Internationalizing the Psychology
Discipline in the U.S.
The American Psychological Association (APA)
has played a prominent role in promoting the
internationalization of the discipline.
In 1944, APA established the Committee on
International Relations in Psychology (CIRP).
In 1973, it opened an Office of International
Affairs (OIA) to coordinate the international
information and outreach activities.
In 1997, Division 52: International
Psychology was established.
APA’s Policy and Planning Board (2005)
