University of Virginia, VA, USA E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: An adaptive Backstepping fault-tolerant control scheme is designed for longitudinal model of a hypersonic vehicle with redundant elevators. In Backstepping design, the dynamic surface control strategy is adopted to obtain the differentiation of virtual control inputs by introducing two first-order filters. An appropriate fault-tolerant controller structure is proposed and the matching conditions are derived for an adaptive failure compensation for the vehicle subject to uncertain failures including the failure positions and the failure time. The adaptation law designed by using Lyapunov stability theory which guarantees the system stability and tracking accuracy. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant control scheme.
