I am white, which they assumed the Virgin Mary was, so therefore I am pious. I am allowed to get married therefore I am pure, and because of this I am also considered to be domestic. Finally, I can be submissive to my husband because, again, I am allowed to have one. The cult of true womanhood is also shown in the books
