Reaction 2 2/18/08 The video The Human Face: Emotions, Identities and Masks focused on the importance of the face in all cultures. It goes through many different areas of, and surrounding, the face and how people react to each in different ways. The section I found most interesting was the portion about plastic surgery. The movie shows both sides of the argument on plastic surgery – that of the surgeons and those people that are against it. Both sides display the reasons for believing in what they do and give examples to further prove their side of the argument to be the right one. Plastic surgeons will always stand by their notion that they are providing a valuable service, whether superficial or medical. One key example of this is on the show Nip/Tuck. The first thing the two plastic surgeons say to their potential clients is “Tell me what you don’t like about yourself.” That right there shows that they know they are playing with people’s emotions. Even if the case they are working on is medical in some way, they know they can get to the
