Tony Majewski ENC1101 3:35 Formal Paper #2 Damerville Roberto Clemente, Utility Human Roberto Clemente is the definition of a “Utility Human,” a person that played all positions in life: a star athlete and a humanitarian. Clemente played baseball with all his heart, giving the sport his best at all times. He cared for people with all his heart, devoting time and effort to the people that needed it the most. He epitomized what it was to be a great person in all aspects of his time on earth. Clemente made his Major League debut on April 17, 1955, after being signed by the Brooklyn dodgers in 1953. The Dodgers tried to hide the talented Clemente from other teams early in his career. In one instance he hit three triples in one game, but was benched the next. These tactics didn’t keep the Pittsburg Pirates from drafting him in the 1954 first year players’ draft. His first full season with the Pirates was the opposite of the normal Clemente, as he batted .255 with 5 home runs and 47 RBI’s. After his rookie
