OUR FUTURE LEADERS2 Our Future Leaders Despite the fact that several drivers are transforming the contemporary healthcare, it can be debated that nothing will substitute the nature in which nursing is conducted more than the present developments in technology. Technology is changing the world at a fast rate and no working setting where this is more apparent than in healthcare backgrounds. In the coming decade, numerous emerging technologies will transform the practice of nursing globally. Houston, (2010), indicated that, “forty percent of what we know today will be obsolete in three years”. Every nurse leader will need to have the capability to assimilate technology in the healthcare setting, which enables portability and mobility of interactions, relationships, and operational processes (Benson, 2013). Biometrics, Clinical Decision Support (CDS), and Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are examples of such technology, as all will last to influence not only what healthcare information are gathered, but also how they are stored, communicated, and used.
