Summary V. Analysis
Before researching this essay, the difference between Summary v. Analysis was unclear. I
was unsure that there was a difference between the two. Then, after reading the textbook,
listening to the podcast, and reading the article the answer to that question was clear. Mentioned
in the textbook, Inquiry, a summary of something is defined as “taking away ideas in a somewhat
swift and concise way.” Presenting a summary of something would be taking small main ideas
from the textbook, podcast, magazine, etc. and using it to make a point. An analysis, on the other
hand, is doing your own research or study on a topic to present ideas that you think and fitting all
the main points together on your own. An analysis of something, according to the textbook,
means that it is used when trying to introduce something new, and help to critically think on a
certain point.
