One reason the bomb should've been used in Japan was because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. The Pearl Harbor attack killed over 2,000 Americans, including farmers and soldiers. It also destroyed American security, destroying aircrafts and ships. Around 160 aircrafts were damaged, but 150 of them were demolished. Twelve ships were ruined and nine were vandalized. President Trueman thought the best fit was to scare the Japanese and breach their security the same way they did to America. By the end of 1945 over 200,000 Americans died. The Allied powers created “operation downfall” which was a plan created to make clear where bombs would be released. Eventually two bombs were let on in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 which killed between 120,000 and 226,000 people. Although President Trueman wanted Japan to surrender to them, the bomb shouldn’t have been released in Japan because it put even more innocent people in harm. The Pearl Harbor attack that
