As this is week one of the course, introduce yourself to your classmates. You might want tomention what you anticipate you will learn from the course, and/or why you chose to take thiscourse. Then, for the graded part of this week’s discussion, reflect on a personal decision thatyou have made recently - for example, the decision to wear a certain item of clothing, buy a car,or eat at a certain restaurant. In what ways are your individual decisions socially structured?Does your personal decision reflect broader patterns of behaviour?DiscussionHi everyone,My name isMahad and I’m a first year Political Science student at University of Guelph. At themoment I’m living in Barrie, Ontario which is a few hours from Guelph but I hope to move toGuelph once the university opens for everyone. In regards to this course, I’ve heard a lot of greatthings about this class from my peers and decided to take it this semester. My intentions in takingthis course are so that I could learn more about sociology in general as I took a sociology coursein high school and found it relatively amusing. I anticipate taking this course will expand myknowledge in perceiving more objectively at our society and other societies; directing attentionto how the parts of society fit together and change, as well as make us aware of the consequencesof that social change. So with this in mind, I hope this course can further develop my knowledgeon human behaviour, relationships, and society as a whole.A personal decision that I’ve made recently is to try and go outside everyday for long walks. Irecently chose to regularly walk as I view walking as one of the easiest ways in improving mymental health, and as well as staying active during lockdown and at home. During the start ofquarantine, I would just stay inside and do my school work, however, overtime I would often feellazy and at times sick of staying home. I eventually came to the conclusion that if I were tooccasionally walk it would without a doubt improve my mental and physical health as beforeCOVID-19 I used to go out alot but now due to current events among society this is no longer
