Week 1 Pre-Class Assignment Review of select concepts; health care law; health care organizations Day 1 of Week 1 Review mental health concepts covered in previous courses: coping, stress, cognition, and communication. Mental Health Nursing: mental health nursing refers not just to care of patients with an actual mental health diagnosis (that you will study in this course), but also to all people as you apply concepts such as coping, stress, cognition, and communication. These concepts become exceedingly important when caring for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's disease and for patients in potentially stressful situations such as end of life. The first class of the week is for you to review the mental health concepts you previously studied in the program as they applied to patients in these situations. Then you will build on those general mental health concepts and continue to apply them to patients with a variety of mental illnesses.
