Directions: Use the TP-CASTT method to analyze one of Edgar Allan Poe’s poems. T Title The title is “Alone”. The title of the poem gives me the impression that it is simply about someone feeling
alone, left out, or misunderstood. It’s also saying or symbolizing that he is by himself by choice or isolated P Paraphrase from other people by force.
Poe describes the loneliness he felt through his lifetime. How he never fit in, and shared no common interests with anyone. He talks about how his whole life was nothing but a struggle. Maybe he just needed a
friend; yet he lived his life depressed, rejected, & ultimately "alone". C Connotation
The tone of the entire poem consists of sorrow, melancholy, and maybe even a mournful tone. Lines such as A Attitude "Of a most stormy life - was drawn.” says how most of his life was stormy, and difficult.
The first line of the poem, "From childhoods hour I have not been", makes me believe that he did not have a
