Chapter 15- Personality -Personality Perspectives -We think of ourselves in terms of traits. We could’ve thought about personality in other ways, but its easier to describe with adjectives. We find ourselves -Freud -Emphasis on neurological disorders. Had many patients with problems that lacked any physiological issues. Began work with unconscious and mind here. Invented techniques to access the unconscious. Believed dreams were the Highway to the unconscious. Believed hypnosis was an altered state where We could reach the unconscious. Free association is being relaxed an just talking about whatever comes to mind. - Psychoanalysis -The techniques used to reach unconscious. -Projective tests- ink blots, what do you see? -Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)- pictures the therapist would show you, youd be shown a picture and asked to describe what is happening in the photo. Class ex- man died, woman crying. -Rorschach inkblot test- 10 ink blots, asked to tell them what you see.
