Module 6 Personality AssessmentThe big-five personality test has been used several different ways over the years becauseit gives a clear picture of a persons’ characteristics.Psychologists have used it in therapysessions to understand what traits need to be addressed to help the patient, employers use it tofind the best type of person for specific careers/jobs, and individuals have used this assessmentfor personal development purposes. This personality test assesses five human traits and theirstrength/weakness in each. The traits are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion,Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, which are commonly remembered by the acronym O.C.E.A.N.(Funder, 2016).Personality traits describe the intensity, high or low, of a feeling a person hastoward different matters. This assessment classifies a person as high, average, or low accordingto the score achieved, this score is measured against people of the same sex and age bracket ofthe test taker (Personality Test Center, n.d.).The measured traits, along with personal scores, canbe expected from individuals that score high/low on the big-five personality test can be found ontable one.I have taken thebig-five personality testseveral times during my life and have alwaysfound the results eerily accurate.I have also noticed how the results change as I get older andwiser.I have always been a conscientious, extravert that tends to be agreeable. However, Ihave noticed that as I get older, I am not as open-minded and I tend to worry more than I didin my 20s.This gives me the notion that thebig-five personality testis a good indicator ofhow someone has the tendency to act in a certain fashion, but not to absolutely predictbehavior.
