Mason Gregory Engl. 1100 at 11:00 11/5/07 The Tricky Tortoise “What’s this?” said Sarah as she stumbled across a large animal shell. “It’s a turtle shell!” shouted Jake. He immediately dropped all the stones he had been collecting for the past half hour and ran over to take a closer look. Just as Jake got to the shell, an old tortoise stuck his head and feet out and just sat down. He began talking to them about when he was their age when an ancient looking hare came out from behind a tree. The tortoise proceeded. My good friend Larato here used to talk all the time about how fast he was and how slow I was. One day I challenged him to a race. He started off way ahead of me, but his confidence got the best of him, so he took a nap. He woke up just in time to see me cross the finish line before him. However, that did not keep him from boasting. Just a day later he was taunting me again about my short legs, so what’s a turtle to do but stand up for himself? So again I challenged him to a race.
