McPherson is a novel that documents the life of the 16 th president of the United States of America. The book tells of a very noble and inspirational man that changed the fate of the United States during the Civil War. He preserved the Union and prevented the United States from splitting into two different countries. He worked very hard to get the 13 th amendment to pass and had the passion to treat the blacks the same as the whites. This novel is split into three parts: before presidency, role as president, and effects of his presidency. Before Lincoln’s presidency he was a self-made lawyer that earned much money by being exact and respectful of the law. Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Kentucky to illiterate parents. Lincoln’s family was not very rich but had money to live and move several times. Lincoln received some education but not as much as he really needed to. Lincoln’s birth mom had died and Lincoln’s father was left to remarry. Because Lincoln lived in the farming district
