2Chapter Ten Self-AssessmentsServant leaders take the traditional leadership approach and turns it upside down for arevolutionary approach to leadership; they put their employees at the top of the hierarchy andthemselves at the bottom.Servant leadership is about the leader serving their employees with amindset of serving first and empowering their team members to become authentic, effective, andsuccessful members of the organization that perform at highly effective and efficient levels.Northouse (2019) provides readers with a self-assessment questionnaire to determine theirservant leadership capacity regarding emotional healing, value for the community, conceptualskills, empowerment, helping other succeed, putting subordinates first, and ethical behavior.This paper will summarize the author’s scores of the self-assessment and background of theauthor’s organization and leadership role within the organization.Self-Assessment ResultsThe self-assessment provided by Northouse (2019) asks the leader for input from two oftheir subordinates to complete the questionnaire and average the scores (see APPENDIX A).Theauthor scored an average of 24 points indicating a high range for emotional healing, creatingvalue for the community, conceptual skills, and putting subordinates first.
