2 Family Systems Introduction This paper will be reflecting and analyzing a case about an adopted child with special needs. In this case, there is a husband and a wife who are both from Haiti who have immigrated to the U.S. The wife, Marie still has family in Haiti. There was a devastating earthquake in Haiti which killed Marie’s entire family except for her nephew, Michel. Marie and her husband, Andre adopt Michel. This causes a lot of stress on the family. Michel is having a hard time adjusting Marie is having a hard time with the loss of her family and Andre is having a hard time connecting with Michel ( LeCroy & Lecroy, 2014). All of these issues are challenging for this family. This paper will discuss the family subsystems and boundaries, social systems and cultural influence on the family, and the micro, mezzo, and macro systems involved. Subsystems and Boundaries In a traditional family, there are four subsystems, marital, parental, sibling and extended family. With this case there are not as many subsystems, but there are a few. There is of course the marital subsystem which is between the husband and wife, Andre and Marie. There is a
