Blane Smith November 19, 2007 Botany 104 Creative Project – Tropical Pond Ecosystem For my creative project, I choose to create a tropical pond ecosystem . The tank that I used was previously used as a frog tank that my sister had as a teenager . When she gave me the tank, it was very filthy and I didn’t even know if all the parts would work . The materials used included the tank, water filtration system, pond stones, and lights that simulated the suns energy . Once I cleaned the tank thoroughly and scrapped all the dead algae off of the sides, I arranged the tank to look like the shore of a pond . However, I did leave most of the dead plant matter in the tank . Once all of the non-living parts were clean, I then added water . I had some problems with water clarity and the PH was way too high to support plant life . So I made a few trips to Pet Smart to get the right solutions to correct this problem . I purchased water clarifier, filters, and a test kit with solutions to balance the
