More recently, publishing innovations have been driven by digital computer, communication, and printing technologies that have improved productivity and efficiency, reducing the time and cost of bringing books to market. Now digital technologies are beginning to transform publishing’s very product. How the Industry Works Book publishers across the industry have long adhered to a common process: Authors first draft a book manuscript, an effort that can take many weeks or months.
