Ryan Moore Ramos, 2pm On Perception of Happiness Statement: “We can be wrong about whether we are happy or not” I believe that we can be wrong about whether or not we are happy. The common misconception is to equate happiness, which comes from desirable reality, with the sensation of pleasure. This is incorrect because while it may make you feel good at the moment, it may not prove to be long lasting. In my opinion, real happiness comes from the liberation of things that make you unhappy, but only after you have achieved what made you undertake the unhappy actions in the first place. Take for example the institution of education. During school you will learn many complicated things that may make you frustrated and angry. You could liberate yourself from these things and be free and happy, but this leaves you with only a fleeting sense of pleasure. In the long run, it may cause you more displeasure because it could inhibit your ability to achieve later goals of providing for a family and cause an unhappy life. However if the
