Name: Object or the text I’m analyzing: Object B Course #: CLCV 2104 – RELI 2737 ROMAN RELIGIONDate Submitted: Tuesday October 29th, 2019"Roman religion" means a set of beliefs, rites and institutions that were formed around thetraditional date of the foundation of Rome and persisted through the Roman society for manycenturies. These sets of beliefs appear, from the beginning, as one of the essential and crucialelements that guide the Hellenistic society; it will always be linked to the political life of the city.Until the end, the "pagans" thought that the power of Rome rested on its fidelity to the traditionalreligion which always represented a great moral force. Every religious practice always appears asa discipline imposed on man by the deities. The romans lived "under the eye of the gods," but,must not seek to establish direct relations with the deities by themselves. Only priests, anemanation of the social body, are qualified to regulate practices. A man witnessing a prodigy,which is a manifestation of the divine will, immediately takes counsel; the precedents areconsulted, and the authorities draw the conclusion. Understanding the beliefs, the social structure, the religious structure and ritual order are allimportant to be able to analyze texts or artifacts from that era. I will be analyzing object B.Object B is very interesting to look at. On its four corners, there are what seems to be for womenwhich look like sphinxes. Each sphinx is different from the other. The first one, on the top leftcorner, has a bird on its body. This might be interpreted to represents animal life and sacrifice.The second sphinx, on the top right corner, has two suns and its body is entirely white. I believe
