If I were Officer Delaney, I would not shoot Reggie provided he cooperated and allow me to arrest him, but I would not let him go either. If Reggie’s story is true, because I know that he’s a drug dealer I would have to arrest him for the illegal activity. The only way that I would shoot Reggie would be, if he tried to harm me or make a run for it. Not knowing whether Reggie’s story is true or not, the fact that he may or may not have shot another cop and then fled the scene, this alone is just cause for shooting him.
