Erin Gassner Gassner 1 Dr. Belby ESC 101 5 October 2013 Tropical Storm Karen Both hurricane watches and tropical storm watches have been issued due to Tropical Storm Karen from southern Louisiana to western Florida. Typically hurricane watches are issued when winds stronger than 74 miles per hour are expected within 36 hours. A tropical storm watch means that winds as fast as 35 miles per hour are expected. As of 7 A.M. Friday October 4, Tropical Storm Karen was 335 miles south of New Orleans and blowing winds up to 60 miles per hour. The storm will encounter dry air and atmospheric winds that will limit the strengthening of it. It is unsure whether Tropical Storm Karen will turn into a hurricane because hurricanes come from warm water and moist air. New Orleans and other surrounding cities can expect to see four to five inches of rain, and the Gulf Coast east of New Orleans is likely to experience heavy flooding and strong winds.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
