Brooke Cranford 2/11/21PHYS 2108 Section 13Lab 4 – Newton’s LawsHailey ShallMin-Cheng Pai, William SchotPurpose: The purpose of this lab was to allow unbalanced forces to show what forces do. We will reference Newton’s Laws to help do this.Introduction: We will look at force and acceleration using Newton’s Second Law to develop a useful equation for the relationship between the two of them.Procedure: We used pulleys, the triple beam balance, and dual-range force sensor to obtain the data points for force, acceleration, and masses. Next, we inserted these data points for acceleration and force into graphical analysis to generate a graph. Finally, we calculated mass and percent error. Data Table 1: Forces and Accelerations AppliedWeightsAcceleration(m/s/s)Force(N)Hanger0.32500.433810g0.39910.544220g0.46810.612430g0.52040.697240g0.60410.793150g0.65090.8747Data Table 2: Recorded Masses Masses (kg)Cart 0.53920Force Sensor 0.13335Steel Weight 0.49745
Analysis:7. 0.53920 + 0.13335 + 0.49745 = 1.17 kg8. m = 1.319 kg((1.319-1.17)/1.17) * 100 = 12.73%
