BSABEN - 5 Rationale Developing countries contribute 72% of the total vegetable production in the world (Muragi, 2019). The transplanting operation is one of the most labor intensives in vegetable production. The Philippines rank on the 20 th largest producer of vegetables in the world. Philippine share 2% percent of the world production of vegetable with a productivity of about 6.7 million metric tons as of 2018 which is quite low as compared to many countries (Animated Stats, 2020). It is largely done by hand in Philippines and most developing countries and incurs large investment in labor, time, cost. The basic requirements for small scale cropping machine are, they should be suitable for small farms, simple in design and technology and versatile for use in different farm operations. Many operations in agriculture are now being performed by machines. A low cost manually operated single row vegetable transplanter was developed for transplanting of plug and pot type vegetable seedlings on ridges and mulch beds. It consisted of jaw assembly, delivery pipe,
lever, handle, spacing marker and frame (Nandede, Carpenter, et al. 2017). This
