Matthew Mueller Sept. 24, 2007 CHEM 207-01A ACID-BASE TIRATION – SODIUM CARBONATE Objective This lab involved the titration of hydrochloric acid with sodium carbonate. The titrant HCl  was standardized by a titration of pure Na 2 CO 3 . Then the standardized HCl was then  titrated with an unknown concentration of Na 2 CO 3 . Stoichiometry Tables Compoun d Amount M.W. Moles Eqiv. Other HCl 23.4 mL 36.46  1.93  -3  mol 2:1 corrosive Na 2 CO 3 0.102 g 106.0  9.62  -4  mol 1:1 N/A Procedure Observations 1. Prepare a 0.1 M HCl by diluting 12- 13 mL of the 2.0 M HCl stock  solution to 250 mL DI water. 2. In a plastic vial, accurately weigh  out approx. 0.1 g of pure, dry  Na 2 CO 3  provided in a dessicator. Mass 1  = 0.103 g Mass 2  = 0.101 g Mass 3  = 0.103 g 3. Transfer the Na 2 CO 3  from the vial to  an 250 mL erlenmeyer flask. Use a  wash bottle to aid the transfer if
