Dry 6 – Thermodynamics Daniel Odongo, Chemistry Lab 1225 Part: The Balance between Enthalpy and Entropy 1. Enthalpy could be defined as the measure of total heat present in a thermodynamic system and entropy is defined as the measure of disorder in a thermodynamic system. For this experiment one had to use the same concept and determine whether the solutions given are exothermic and endothermic. The objective of the experiment was to determine whether the mixtures in the experiment were endothermic or exothermic, then determine whether H is positive or negative and lastly determine whether the S is positive or negative For this experiment one had to use the virtual Chem Lab, select thermodynamics and then select “The balance between Enthalpy and Entropy from the list. The first will be sodium chloride. One has to weigh the solution in a balance then place it in a calorimeter filled with 100mL of water. Once the
