UNIT 07: COKTAIL DRINKS TOPIC 01: STRUCTURE AND COMPONENTS OF COCKTAILS Let’s Learn Common Ingredients for Mixed Drinks A cocktail is an alcoholic mixed drink, which is either a combination of spirits, or one or more spirits mixed with other ingredients such as fruit juice, flavored syrup, or cream. There are various types of cocktails, based on the number and kind of ingredients added. These are some of the common ingredients of a mixed drink: 1. Base Liqueur - Gin -Tequila - Rum -Brandy - Vodka -Whisky or Whiskey 2. Wines -Table wine -appetizer wine -Sparkling wine -fortified wine 3. Modifying Ingredients -liqueurs -syrups -Nonalcoholic beverage 4. Flavoring Ingredients -herbs and spices 5. Coloring Ingredients Learning Objectives: At the end of the module, the students shall be able to: 1. Determine the structure and components of cocktails and mixed drinks. 2. Familiarize with internationally known cocktail drinks.
