Microbiology Day 2 -E-coli was used first in 1922 and now we use it differently. The difference in genome variety is the same as calling human same species as certain monkeys -Bacteria found in hospital ICU recently. Hospitals are small environment that selects for pathogenic bacteria, so best place to find bacteria. Because there's so many antibiotics present, then the bacteria present has to be immune to these. These people are usually immune-compromised. Some bacteria is ok to be on your skin, but when it your blood, its dangerous - By taking a lot of antibiotics, it selected for pathogenic bacteria. Now theres a push to not take antibiotics. -MRSA = methicillin resistant Straphylococcaus aureus. Methicilin was suppose to be a good drug to defend against all bacteria. Now, it's very common. There is a big concern because of this drug. Article says doctors and nurses carry MRSA, but it won't hurt them if it's on your skin.
