Mozart and the Whale Mozart and the Whale is a film about two individuals living with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism. Donald, a brilliant math whiz, is a taxi cab driver and Isabelle is a wild, outspoken, musical genius. The two meet at a support group for people with different forms of autism and quickly realize how similar their lives are and begin a romance. Both are very high functioning on the autism-spectrum, but come to realize that they need the other in each other’s lives. When Donald is first introduced, it is not noticeably clear that he has Asperger’s Syndrome but we can infer that he is different. It is only later that the audience is told that has the disorder and can actually perceive that by his actions. Like many others with Asperger’s Syndrome, Donald has an intense interest – math. His mind often is alive with numbers and is a true mathematician with astonishing skills.
