EXPERIMENT M5 NEWTON'S SECOND LAW OF MOTION * We measured the individual weights of all the objects that are to be used in the experiment. M (Glider) = 442.2 g M (Weight Hanger) = 50.0 g M (5cm flag) = 6.3 g M (10cm flag) = 11.8 g M (20cm flag) = 21.7 g M (30cm flag) = 34.7 g VI-3 Flag length (l) = 5 cm = = 548.5 g Start position of rear end of glider on air track (L) = 34.5 cm Final position of rear end of glider on air track (`L) = 81.4 cm d = L - `L = 46.9 cm ΔS = ( √ ( d + l ) - √ ( d) ) ^ 2 = 0.1266 cm We initially used the 5cm flag, and hung a certain weight from the hanger. We then took 3  different reading for the time taken for the flag to pass the photocell. We then repeated the  procedure useing four different masses, keeping everything else constant.
