The objective for this project is to: Determine the correct shaft diameter to transmit 2kW at 1800rpm. Determine the modulus Determine the size of three gears to produce a three gear speed transmission. The output shaft must allow 1.5 inch material to pass thru as well as it being subject to the external forces of 300kg radial and 200kg axial load. In regards to safety, a safety factor (k) of 1.25 will be used for calculations. Calculations for the designing of a three speed gearbox. Required ratios are 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3. Application Data: * Input HP: 2kW = 2.68hp (Around 3hp) * Input RPM: 1800rpm (Approximately 1720rpm) * Output RPM: 1720rpm, 900rpm, and 570rpm Calculated Design HP (DHP): * Assuming 1.25 service factor (SF) * DHP = Input HP · SF * DHP = 2.68hp · 1.25 = 3.35dhp Calculated Input Torque: * T = [(DHP · 63000) / rpm]
