Notes from a Sunken Third Place Jasmine Wahi’s article discusses the issue of racism in the United States of America. She is pleased with the Biden/Harris win since Harris is a Black and South Asian American woman, whom she believes would be able to facilitate the ending of racial discrimination in America. However, Jasmine also expresses her concern over the issue of White Liberal Complacency which emphasizes changing the current situation rather than considering the structural factors that have resulted in the current racism situation. The issue of white supremacy has been the foundation of America and Trump was only a product of the same system (Wahi). She is concerned that the Biden/Harris victory is a form of complacency that will only reinforce the status quo. It will allow for there to be law and order but will not promote justice for the people of color in America. Further, she discusses her upbringing and how she was forced to comply with white supremacy. She seeks a disintegration of the whole system where people of color will
