When preparing to make sure you think about how key concepts relate to each other. Agency & structure (how do they influence each other?) Know the general claims of Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx, and Max Weber (how do they argue we should conceptualize and analyze the social world?) Functionalist and conflict perspectives (know their general claims, how they explain society, and what they emphasize for sociological analysis) Symbolic interactionism Culture & symbols (know the difference between ideal & real culture and how this relates to cultural inconsistencies) Norms, values, mores, taboos, laws (what are they?
