Mental health encompasses the psychological, social, and emotional well-being of individuals. According to Townsend and
Morgan (2017), mental health refers to "the successful adaptation to stressors from both the internal and external environment,
evidenced by thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are age-appropriate and congruent with local and cultural norms." Thus, the state
of mind, affects how people feel, think, and act. For instance, when individuals experience mental health problems, such as
depression, stress, anxiety, and panic attacks, it affects their overall thinking and behaviors. Therefore, mental health is essential
throughout life. Mental health is a Population Health concern that threatens a global community. According to the Mental Health First
Aid (MHFA) (2019), 14.4% of American adults have a mental disorder, while only 41% of them receive professional mental health
My reason for writing this paper is to discuss an advocacy campaign for decreasing mental health issues with a legislator,
policymaker or a member of their staff. The first two part of the paper will be the comparison grid of how the current president and the
past two presidents addressed mental health issues, part three is the policy brief on a separate sheet.
