12345Name (4 points each) and describe (8 points each) each of the Gestalt Principles illustrated above (60 pointstotal):1.Proximity.Proximity is where grouping offigures together create an illusion that we are notseeing six (6) separate lines, but in fact we areseeing three (3) sets of two (2) lines.2.Depth perception. The arrows appear to narrowthe base of the picture showing who we are ableto estimate a pictures height, width and distancefrom us.When getting closer to the image, theillusion nearly disappears
3 Continuity. With continuity, we perceive that thelines are smooth and continuous in pattner format, but rather they are discontinuous in nature.Theyare alternating patterns of semi-circles adjacentfrom one another. The fact that only half of a circlestarts and ends the pattern gives it the illusion of acontinued string.4Closure.Closure forces the mind to focus onempty space and fill in gaps to create an illusion of awhole object. It forces the mind to assume that thecircles and lines are surrounding a white triangle; ata hard look, the circles have wedges removed to givethe triangle life and the bordered triangle likediagrams complete the illusion.5.Figure ground. With figure ground, the patterns and shapes of objects stand out from the picture andtheir surroundings. As a result, we see a continued relationship of the “called” out patterns that areorganized on the ground of the grouping.
